Pots
We replace pots that are broken or missing.
A pot completes the chimney, giving it better airflow,
stronger draw and preventing so much rain from
causing damp in chimneys and soot ingression.
Cowls
Cowls are a good way of solving a lot of chimney
problems. Obviously, there are different cowls for
different problems. We can supply a solution for
all of them.
For working chimneys, there are cowls that stop birds
and squirrels getting in and falling down the chimney.
Cowls also
stop birds making nests in the chimney
(therefore, causing carbon monoxide poisoning). They
are also useful for stopping heavy weather, such as
rain, hailstones and wind, causing soot and debris
to fall down the chimney.
There are cowls for solving problems such as down
draught, where the wind comes down the chimney.
There are cowls for improving the up draught (or draw)
of the chimney.
For disused chimneys, there are caps which stops
everything from getting in and allows enough air to
circulate and keep the chimney dry, which helps with
damp patches on chimney walls.
Recommended Chimney Cowl
This type of cowl is great for stopping birds entering
the chimney and nesting - or coming out in the lounge
which can be even more alarming! It also stops direct rainfall
into the chimney, prevents hailstones falling down onto
the carpet and helps in preventing down-draught.
Capping and disused chimneys.
For homes where the fireplace and chimney are no longer
in use, a chimney cap should be fitted. We recommend
a C-Cap type seen here.
